Jesse Cunningham fills the Denizen Gallery this February with his photo transfer work depicting empty landscapes that are teetering between the industrial and the natural. Combined with the bright, colorful, yet grotesque monsters of Wesley Hubbard, they are a force to be reckoned with. Larry Cwik’s new work at Gallery 5 is his first solo exhibit in Portland in four years and will be continued through February. The work includes color photographs from the Asia 2011 project from Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, and Qatar along with video installation. The photographic images reflect the diversity of cultures, trends, demographics, commerce, and spirituality in a continent that is home to 60% of people on earth; a continent that is increasingly important within U.S. affairs, geopolitically, and on the world stage.
