STILL RUNNING
Lumber [LC] Collection
Textile & Video Installation by Travis Beardsley
Gallery 5 (The Studios)
Show runs: May 4th – June 30th
Gallery hours: Weds-Sat, Noon-6pm, or by appointment
Travis Beardsley’s work explores the creation of process-based garments, with a video installation of the process as well as the finished product. Four performers wearing white cotton, jersey and crochet garments created by Beardsley worked together to push six wooden stumps through a hydraulic wood splitter, pouring a gallon of paint over each log as it was split. The different colors of paint and the wood debris transform the blank canvas of the white garments to create a visual story of the action taking place. The gallery installation includes the finished garments, the split logs and paint buckets, along with a continual video loop of the performance.
