Milepost 5′s spaces, infrastructure, and programming are designed for Portland’s creative community: flexible, affordable live/work, work, and commercial space in a community environment that fosters creative pursuits and artistic engagement. The community is designed with both rental and ownership opportunities with an emphasis on long term affordability.
The two-acre campus in Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood is divided between two re-purposed, re-developed buildings: The Lofts and The Studios. With around 140 tenants—including residents, work-spaces, and small businesses—Milepost 5 is the largest community of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.

The Lofts building includes opportunities for purchase and leasing. The spaces are live/work designed with open floor plans and high ceilings. The Studios building consists of 96 live/work spaces, 15 work-only / business studios, and a restaurant/performance space. The campus includes a community gardens, some off-street parking, secure bike parking, a central courtyard in The Studios, on site Zip Car and internet service by Stephouse Networks.
