About Montavilla

Montavilla is a thriving neighborhood just east of Mount Tabor. Milepost 5 is named for the 1854 “mile post 5″ marker where the intital Montavilla business district blossomed in the late 1800′s, just a few blocks south west of the Milepost 5 site. Find out about the history of the neighborhood here.

Close to Milepost 5, there are restaurants, a library, parks, a community center, bars, and grocery stores. Milepost 5 is also just seven blocks a way from the Montavilla commercial district with, among others, Flying Pie Pizzeria, BiPartisan Cafe, and Ya Hala Restaurant. More are listed on the neighborhood map.

Montavilla was named one of the next neighborhoods to watch in Portland by Sunset Magazine in 2008.
